Hello

Since Saturday 22nd November (possibly immediately following a 5 second general power outage) I have had no Sure Signal connection. The SS device shows only the power light lit. I have rebooted the SS and wireless router and followed all troubleshooting directions without success.

Here are the details you request to investigate:

Hi,

No power outage that I know of, but otherwiseI have exactly the same problem as you and I am with sky. I even have the skip at the 2nd hop on the trace route.

I have had to open ports, allow ip addresses, report light sequences and more over the last  weeks or more and repeat it over again.

I believe Vodafone have accidently created a problem with the sure signals via an update or the like, because Vodafone Ireland have admitted that there is a problem with Sure Signal and they are working on it.

Well its certainly poor. This is a million miles short of a consumer ready solution, despite having been on the market for probably 5 years (I've had mine for 4). That it's not stable is one thing, but quite how much work the user has to do and quite how much sophistication they require to do it is astonishing. I've had problems before and hocus pocus solutions about the correct order in which to pull out and plug in cables/reset buttons. Then it starts working as if by magic (or perhaps it was because I had my fingers crossed and was clutching a rabbit foot at the time of holding down the rest button for 37 seconds). This is designed to keep us busy instead of complaining.

I tried to pick out some sort of trend from the other posts to establish whether there is a general current issue. Impossible to tell - the boards seem to have been awash with anguish for years.

Hi @JohnHirst,

Please try the Sure Signal at a different location (such as a friend/family members). We'll then be able to determine where the issue lies.

@AndroidFamily- Your post has been replied to here

Thanks,

Kay

I posted on 25th November and I've still had no response and now a week without sure signal service. Vodafone, why should I be paying your bills for no service? Please sort this out.

**** EDIT - Breaking News...  FIXED.

The problem with mine was the power supply failing, obviously during the last part of the boot up the VSS activates the 3G radio, I think the surge current was too much and the PSU tripped, switched off then restarted.  I have replaced the 12V 1.5A faulty unit with a similarly specified one (12V 2.0A) I had lying around (as I do) and Bingo!

*****

Mine too, first noticed 28th November VSS starts up gets to light 4 flashing and then restarts.  Have full reset twice, twitter reps seem uninterested too.  Been previously working well for ages.

Phil.

So I tried my sure signal at my neighbour's on Tuesday evening. Unsurprisingly it wouldn't connect since my neighbour also have a sure signal (v3) which isn't connecting. I enjoyed two glasses of their delicious carmenere whilst we watched a procession of lights which all culminated in nothing.

However, it did display some of the symptoms of those who decided the power supply unit was at fault.

I returned home, drank a few more glasses of my own less good wine and hunted for a suitable replacement PSU. No joy. And by this point rather tired and emotional I reconnected the SS to our router and left it.

Magically the following morning a full 3G signal had appeared.

What I can't work out is which one of the following unlikely events was the remedy:
-40 odd resets, cable pulls and router restarts
-port forwarding on a router that I can guarantee had no configuration changes prior to the outage
-drinking 4 large glasses of wine
-allowing my sure signal to socialise with my neighbours
-giving the power supply unit an hour's rest
-a back-end failure which was causing the issue was corrected by Vodafone (evidently as the lowest priority possible)

I wonder, I wonder. Tedious beyond description.

Hope I won't have to bore this forum with another failure. Good luck to the rest of you.
