Like many others in the forum, I am experiencing compatibility isue with the VSS ver2 and my ASUS DSL-N55U router. The power light stays solid but no other lights. After exhaustive exchanges back and forth with Vodafone technical and BT technical and after implementing all the required changes, port forwarding etc etc it still does not work. It is fine with the BT Business Hub 3 which shows that the broadband line from bt is not at fault. As there are so many posts on this subject can VSS tech team advise if they know what the problem is and whether a solution has been found (i.e firmware update)?

Hi hammo75,
Your speed test, ping test and traceroute are fine.
Your IP address is on our whitelist, so no problems there either.
I can see your Sure Signal connected to our servers last night at 7:17pm, is everything now working for you?
If not, let me know what light sequence you're seeing on the Sure Signal.
Cheers,
Andy

The connection your seeing is from me swaping routers back to the BT business hub 3. I have included the tracert for the connection just incase its of any use for comparison. The ASUS router still will not connect the VSS. I am no networking expert but if the BT hub is working ok that surely means the isp line is ok and therefore must be down to router settings. The ASUS router appears to have extensive settings so I would have thought it must be a case of adjustment rather than incompatibility. Is their anything in the attached VSS settings that I need to check and can you help me ensure I have these set properly?

Please note that the ASUS router has latest firware update.

Hi there
In the router's config, is there a section for Advanced Settings -> WAN -> VPN PPTP Passthrough
If there is, enable it, along with the other two IPSec and L2TP, and see if that makes a difference.
11-04-2014 03:45 PM
thanks for the guidance, appreciated, very frustarting as its clearly an issue (or similiar) that has been around for some time going through the Vodafone forum. I can't believe Vodafone do not have this sorted by now.
The router has PPTP, PSec and L2TP passthrough enabled as default, the only one not currently enabled is PPoE, but the BT hub is set to PPoA so I did not think I needed to enable PPoE in the ASUS router.

If the passthroughs are enabled, then try disable, different routers have different terminology for allowing the traffic through.
The various PPPo options are not required to be changed
As the suresignal creates a secure IPSec vpn tunnel back to Vodafone for the voice traffic to travel down, some routers that are VPN aware terminate the VPN traffic rather than passing it on, and this needs to be worked around (normally by the Passthrough option being changed)
I'm not sure what could be changed in the design for this, i certainly wouldn't want my calls passing over the internet unsecured.
It is the same on my VirginMedia Hub at home, I had to toggle the passthrough option to allow me to connect to my work VPN, otherwise the router wouldn't let the connection go though.

Did you guys get this fixed?
