Text messages not sending!

Hi there, ive recently purchased an iphone 5, and got a new vodafone nano sim, everything is set up, the internet (3G) and calling people is working fine however text messages wont send, ive tried everything, from resetting the phone, switching off imessage... Ive done all i can think of, the number to my device is [removed for security]... Someone help?

Can you not send texts to everyone or certain people in your contacts list ?

I'm thinking if certain people then you may have added them to your text blocking list. The iPhone has two blocking facilities. Calls and texts.

Or how certain people have accidentally added you to theirs.

Is it both sms and iMessages that are not sending or only iMessage.

If the latter does iMessage still show waiting for activation and what happens if you try to send yourself a message, what error message do you see?
