Topup And Go (topup Options)

Mr Tiddler
Not applicable
I'm using my TopUp and Go Sim in a Dell Linux laptop with it's own modem, and all is working fine.
(I'd rather not have been forced to buy a USB modem though which I don't need).

Anyway, as I'm not using your Windows software, I'm wondering what my topup options are.
I read that I had to buy a £15 Voucher.

I assume I could use other options to topup (e.g. at a cashpoint) as long as the topup is £15?

Also, do I have to wait for my balance to reach £0 before I topup? Or can I put £15 credit on there while I still have a balance of a few pounds?

Many thanks for your help.

hullo,

I'm pretty sure the topup option on the software is to make things easier for people. You can still top up via 'normal' methods - atm, voucher etc. You can top up at any time with any balance, and it still adds the 1gb quota. (£15=1gb=excellent value if you ask me)

Hope this answers everything for you!

As long as it is in multiples of £15, you can top-up by any existing method, at any time, I believe.

Hi Mr Tiddler (fab name! ;) )

Welcome to the eForum, as you can see all of our members are really friendly and always happy to help out.

Both cartman_81 and Neil_Brown are correct (thanks guys!) :D

You can top up however you want to with the modems. For a full list of to up methods, take a look at our PAYG Information page.

Happy browsing!

Thanks for the info people.

One last question in the same area.

If your balance does reach £0, can you still surf for free on http://vodafone.co.uk so that you can topup online?

Or is all your web access cut off with a balance of £0?

Many thanks.

Hi Mr Tiddler,

Thanks for getting back, I'm glad that helped!

That's a good question regarding the £0.00 credit surfing. I called our trusty Pay As You Go Team and spoke to a very happy chappy called John ;)

He told me that you can still browse the My Account and charges section of Vodafone Live! as long as you don't try to access the chargable pages like news updates or the world wide web :D

Let me know if you need anything else!

Cheers, Ben

I didn't have to do much. I'm using the latest Ubuntu (or Mint Linux to be specific).

The Network Manager recognised I had a built in modem when I logged in (i'm not using the supplied USB dongle).

It prompted me to pick a Mobile Broadband provider.
I chose Vodafone TopUp and Go.

It just worked from there.

What isn't working for you?

I've been trying to sort out PAYG topup for USB modems for a while now, and I'm afraid that the above advice, given by Vodafone reps in several threads is inadequate: the page referenced is thin on actual details.

Please assume the following:

i) Vodafone USB PAYG modem.
ii) Vodafone Connect Manager under Linux.
iii) Vodafone Connect Manager for linux offers NO top up options at all.

I have fifteen pounds in cash in my hand; how do I transfer that fifteen pounds to the dongle?

If I buy a top-up voucher then, given the above, how do I transfer the credit onto the USB modem?

Hi MattQ

I'm sorry if you feel that the information has not provided the exact answers you have been looking for at this point. Let's see if I can sort that.

I think Ben might have got the wrong end of the stick earlier as his information was actually for Pay as you Talk for the phone (hence "Live!" rather than VMC). I've double checked myself for the PAYT team for specific information to ensure that everything is correct here.

We don't specifically support Linux, which is why the VMC software option for topping up may not be an option for those of you using it, and therefore the routes available to you are more limited than for Windows users. As such, I've queried which of the various ways will be available and the guys have confirmed that the options currently available for you for Top Up And Go Broadband are either to call our customer services team directly or pop into your nearest Vodafone store and they will be able to credit the vouchers for you directly.

We''re always looking to add to the services we offer customers to make it easier to enjoy our services, so it may be that other methods will be available to you in future, including via our My Account online services, but this is the methods they outlined for me at this time.
