US iphone 6 In vodafone UK

TorontoSS
4: Newbie
Hello, I am a vodafone customer with 4G. I will be in the US this month. If I buy a contract free tmobile iphone 6 in the US from the apple store (which I understand caters to 4g bands 7 and 20) will it work as a normal 4g phone if I put a vodafone sim in? Will 4g work as it's supposed to?

I got some of my info here: https://www.apple.com/iphone/LTE/

Thanks in advance.

Any idea how much you would save getting one from the USA? From memory a totally unlocked, international model, isn't that much cheaper than over here.

Hi TorontoSS,

It looks like our community have answered all your questions here! :smileyhappy:

To clarify, we wouldn't be able to insure it. If the phone became faulty we wouldn't be able to repair it, you'd need to contact Apple directly.

It's likely it'll be locked to the first network SIM you put in it. If this is a network in the USA, you'd need to arrange for it to be unlocked by them.

Thanks,

Kay

The ONLY place to buy an unlocked iPhone in the states is from an Apple store.

Buying a contract free phone from a carrier is not the same as buying an unlocked phone. Contract or sim free will restrict you to either the sellers network or the network of the first sim you put in the phone respectively.
