We’ve created this thread to help with online problems that may occur when registering, or managing your Sure Signal.

You need an online account so you can register and manage your Sure Signal.

You’ll receive a text as part of the registration process, which contains a security code. This code is only valid for 20 minutes.

We understand that if you own a Sure Signal, you’ll most likely have little or no coverage, so we recommend you register online when you know you’ll be able to receive the text.

Business customers:

If you’re a business customer you can’t register this via My Account and you need to visit Sure Signal for business. Just click ‘Register a Sure Signal’ and enter your company name as the owner and your mobile number as the administrator - this way you can still make any changes needed.

Consumer customers:

You’ll receive a text or email to confirm that the Sure Signal is fully registered.

Please note that problems can occur, if the number that’s registered as the Owner of the Sure Signal, is different than the main number registered for online billing.

Check for planned maintenance:

Check the forum for any planned maintenance. If there is, this will be announced at the top of the Sure Signal forum.

Planned maintenance can involve changes to the registration system, so wait for this to complete and then retry.

Pending active:

If your online account shows the Sure Signal as ‘Pending Active’, then post in this thread and we’ll look into it further.

All other issues:

If you have any other problems with your Sure Signal registration or management, just post the details below. We’ll need the following:

  • Exact error message
  • Step by step instructions for how to recreate the issue
  • Operating system
  • Browser and browser version

Thanks,

Jenny

Hi toothpick134.

I've taken a look at your device, and can see that there are some error been created when you attempt to add an extra number. It is a Vodafone number you are trying to add I presume?

To get this quickly resolved I think it best to take a look at your account, so I've sent an email to your eForum registered email address, and if you can kindly complete and return this, I'll be in touch to assist further.

Problem solved, I entered just the number, with no user name (number starting with 44)

Hi toothpick134.

That's great news. :Smiling:

If you do get any further issues, please just complete and return the email as this will give us more information to work with.

When I try to add a 2nd number, I just get Error invoking portlet "VAPGatewayController" (see below).

It appears that the registration system was not very well tested for more than single number use.

This is an 'exception', i.e. something has gone terribly wrong that the programmers didn't cater for.

Let me know when you've got someone to fix it, or at least handle the exception and change it to an error, e.g. "Sorry, but users with a digit '7' in their number cannot be added"

Hi crosbie,

Many thanks for letting me know about this exception.

I have to say, when I've added more than one number to my friend's Sure Signal in the past there's been no problem so it could be an error pertaining to your MyAccount registration, rather than it being the whole system at fault.

Is the number you're trying to add a number on Vodafone?

Is the number being added in international format, for example 447123123456?

Have all the fields been filled in for the names of the user of that number?

Are you able to add alternative numbers or is the same exception present on all attempts?

If you can get back to me with those answers then I'll be able to get this fixed for you.

Cheers,

Lee

Hi not sure if this will be in the right area, right to start with i purchased a second hand Sure Signal V1 and it got off to a bump start as previous owner hand not de-activated his account, and after speaking to customer services they explained what i need to previous owner to do, now this is were i got lucky, i managed to get intouch and explained to him what he needed to do, and to my suprise he did de activate his account. Everything was going fine setup my own account and ran into a problem as the sure signal would not work, all i got was the power light on, now after i looked around on here, i spotted how to reset, which was hold reset button unplug power lead while still holding the button and then plug power back in with button pressed and held down for about 20 seconds, and after that i all lights started flashing, so i left it for about 1Hr ish, and everything started working as it should. (This part may help some people out)

Right my problem is that on your website its say's that you can register Vodafone usb dongles, now i checked when dongle was in use and i have the phone number, now when i try and add this number to Sure Signal all i keep getting is :-

"Sorry, You can only add users who have a Vodafone mobile number. This will start with 07, and have 11 digits"

Now the Donlge is the new K3770 pay as you go

Can you please help or give me some information as what i need to do.

Thank you.

Hi Davehig.

Welcome to the Vodafone eForum.:)

I can understand what you are trying to do here, but I can’t understand why you wish to do this????

The VSS (Vodafone Sure Signal) would need to be connected to a High Speed broadband connection to work, so I’m unsure why you’d want to connect a Mobile Broadband dongle if you already have a fixed high speed connection available?

This aside it should attach and work. It’s possible the SIM is dormant, but I’d need to look at the specific number on the network to see this, so I have sent you an email to allow me to get some further information from you. If you can kindly complete and return this, I will be happy to assist further in this matter.

Hello there,

I have the later Sure Signal. I am administrator and my account works fine. I have added a further two users and neither can connect. I have removed the reinstalled the two users and still no joy - help what's next

..RUFFORD :smileyindifferent:

Hi RUFFORD,

I must admit that this is a strange one however so we can look into this for you please can you confirm the following;

Are the additional users that you are trying to add direct Vodafone numbers? (not numbers from ASDA etc)

Also, please can you post your Sure Signal serial number so that we can check for any failures in the registrations of the numbers.

Once we have this we will be able to follow this up for you.

James
