I am having problems removing / reinstalling the Vodafone software for use with a 3G data dongle from a Windows 7 PC. When I had this problem before I was recommended a Vodafone utility that scanned the whole computer & removed all traces of any Vodafone software, which worked beautifully. Unfortunately I can no longer find this utility, can anyone point me to where I can get it?

I've checked and cannot find any program or utility which would do this.
I do have some instructions which can be used to best ensure a full manual uninstall, but these may be out of date given newer versions of the software and changes in Windows 7. I'll post them to give you a general guide, but not all steps may be relevant on Windows 7.
To best remove the software, go to either "add/remove programs" or "programs and features", depending on how you've set up your control panel. From there, select any reference to VMC or Vodafone and click "uninstall". Ignore the reboot option and close the window.
Next, in network and sharing centre > manage network connections, look for any sign of a Vodafone connection, for example "VMC Lite", right click on them and select delete. Once you've cleared them all, close the window again.
Open Phone and modem options and, if asked for location, enter the local dialling code. Click on the "modems" tab, check for the device and, if found, highlight and remove it.
Finally, if you check the autoplay > software and games and select install and run programs, then if there is any reference to Vodafone listed there other than VF PC Assistant just delete that.
Once you've carried out these steps, just reboot the computer and reinstall the software.
Let us know if this helps. If not, let us know what sort of error you’re getting when you try to reinstall and we’ll see what may be causing it.
