Unlocking Lg G5 while abroad

Vodafone has given me unlock code but Now i am in Philippines and after putting different network sim, my mobile is not asking for unlock code. On enquiry vodafone said I should be in UK to complete the process. But i read over here that it is false information.

Can someone please help me out as I am away for a month and I desperately need to unlock it. If there is any manual way of entering the code please?

Even if the unlocking code is correct Vodafone U.K. Cannot guarantee the code will work while not in the Uk. 

What happens when you insert the non Vodafone sim in ?

Does it say No Service for example ?

Some phones don't have a pop up box appear to insert the unlocking code. 

With some it's within the phones network type settings.
