Usb Modem Won't Connect With Windows 7

Firstly - let me confess - I'm actually a Vodafone HONG KONG customer here because there is no customer support in HK - wow - what a great forum.

Anyway - my husband purchased me a new pc for xmas - lovely - but it's windows7 and my Huawei USB Modem (e156g model) just will not connect.

For a week I thought it was a driver problem, but FINALLY a friend sent me a hotfix, and the good news is that the VMC software can now see the modem and I can see the network. Yeah! That's a start.

But, when I try and connect, all I get is "Error 633: The modem (or other connecting device) is already in use or is not configured properly."

I saw the other thread on this and NO I am not already connected. I really am NOT connected to the internet, at all. I don't know what the problem is. The Stick works fine on my mac - no problems at all. But not at all on this windows 7 machine.

Any ideas?

Hi Fairhsa,

Unfortunately we cannot offer any specific support on this modem, as it is not a Vodafone UK one - however, the error message you're getting is most commonly caused by a conflict with existing software on the PC, which takes hold of the modem before VMC can.

To troubleshoot this I would suggest starting the PC in Clean Startup mode, which will confirm if this is a software conflict issue.

The attached document has all the instructions you need :)
