Using A Usb Modem With A Win Vista Laptop

BlissC
Not applicable
I've previously only used my USB modem with my Linux Eee PC, for which I didn't need any software to use it with the Eee but this weekend I need to use it with my Vista laptop.

From what I understand, I need to use some software to use it with a Vista laptop. My problem is twofold...(and I also have another query)

As I've only ever used the modem with my Eee, for which I didn't need to install any software, as the Eee's one of the Linux ones, I've no idea where the original box etc. are, so have no disk with the software on, and of course as the setup instructions are also in the box, wherever that is, I've no idea what connection settings I would need to use.

So, my questions are...

1- Is there somewhere I can download the software from?
2 - Where can I find the connection settings I need to use?
3 - If I use the modem with my Vista laptop, will it then affect using it with another computer, the Eee PC, again in any way?

Thanks.

The software is stored on the dongle- it should autorun when you plug the dongle in

The connection settings are stored on the dongle, unless you need a non-standard connection?

No, using a dongle in multiple machines will not change the configuration or settings on different clients.

Thanks so much for the reply Neil - no, I don't need a non-standard connection. In the chaos of packing for the weekend etc. I suddenly realised I'd no idea where the original box and stuff for the dongle was and if I had to do anything special with it to use it with a different machine - I can finish packing now without panicking about the laptop at least! :)

Thanks!

If you find you do need the software for whatever reason, I'm sure someone can point you to a download location too - but, you shouldn't need it :)

Hey BlissC,

Great to hear you're on the right track now (thanks Neil ;))!

If you ever need the software again, or fancy the complete suite, you can get the latest version from our Vodafone Mobile Connect download page :)

If you need any further help setting, please don't hesitate to ask!
