Well, the title explains it but can I purchase an off the shelf PAYG USB 3G dongle and use the contract SIM card from my Dell 910 (came supplied with netbook with built in modem) and use it on a MacBook?

Many thanks

Hi Dylan Gardner,

Welcome to the eForum :) It's an interesting question! but the good news is this is perfectly doable. The dongle comes with Vodafone Mobile Connect (PC Version) built in, similar to the software you are using on the Dell Netbook. It might need a few settings changes so it knows it's using contract rather than PAYG but this is relatively straightforward.

You will also need to download the Mac version of Vodafone Mobile Connect. If you are running on Snow Leopard we presently don't have support for this version of Mac OSX however our engineers are working to get a new release launched as quickly as possible. Previous versions of OSX will run perfectly well without a hitch.

I'd really appreciate it if you could provide me with some feedback on how I've assisted you today. We're always looking at ways to improve our customer service and keeping our customers happy. This would really help with my development too so if you'd like to do this, just click here.
