VSS Power Light On and Signal Light Flashing

Hello!

Hopefully someone can help me? I have a new version VSS serial number 40123253805 and until recently everything has been working great. However, in the last few weeks I have installed a Satellite Broadband system, and although the VSS worked originally on the new system it then started to play up, with the power light on on the signal light flashing (the left hand white symbol). I could unplug the VSS and it would come back online again again quite quickly.

In the last week this "fix" has failed to work and all I now get is the power light on and the said symbol flashing all the time.

I have read through the forums and most of it just confuses me but I have managed to get the following information.

Ping: 800ms

D/L speed 18.3MB/s

U/L speed 4.59MB/s

IP address is 176.227.128.101

I'm currently using a Mac and a TP-Link modem with the IP address of 192.168.0.1

Any help would be very much appreciated ASAP as I'm starting to lose the faith!

Kind Regards

Mark

Hi

Please take a look at our Sure Signal Troubleshooting thread. If this doesn’t resolve your query, please post your reply either below, or in the relevant thread, together with the details requested, including the following information.

Your speed test results from here.

Your ping test results from here.

Your external IP address from here.

The results of a traceroute.

Your Sure Signal serial number:

VSS Traceroute command

On a PC:

Click on Start and select Run

Type CMD into the Run box and press enter/click ok

A black box will appear.

In this box type tracert 212.183.133.177 press Enter

Paste the output of this command into your reply.

This will help us get the quickest possible resolution for you.

Thanks

Hi there mninnim,

Thanks for your post.

I can see your VSS has connected to our network since your post.

Do you still need assistance or is this resolved now?

Cheers,

LeeH

Hello Lee / Matt

No, it's still not working the power light is on constantly and the signal light just flashes.

I have sent all the info in my first message that Matt asks for except that I don't know what is meant by a "Traceroute" and also, the last bit doesn't help I'm afraid as I'm using a Macand I don't know where to enter this information. I will do it, I just need some guidance.

Thanks for the help chaps.

Kind Regards

Mark

I don't know if this will help but I've just asked my wife to do a Traceroute on her PC and here are the results;

Hi Mark,

For your Sure Signal to work, the time delay across all three packets sent must be below 200ms to have an effective connection. Above this threshold, the Sure Signal cannot maintain the VPN tunnel to our servers so the connection will drop.

From the traceroute above, from hop 3 onwards, your speeds are over 650ms, so you’ll need to contact your ISP to see if there’s anything they can do to help.

Thanks

Andrew

Thanks for the reply, looks like I'll be moving to EE then in March as it's the only company that can provide a signal where I live.
