Vmc 9.4.4.17702 Wont Install On Windows 7 Home Premium

Hi guys,

I'm quite new here on the forum so hi to all forummers. I have a problem as stated in the title.

I just bought a new laptop, Acer 4736G with factory-installed activated Windows 7 Home Premium and I want to use the USB stick (K3565-Z) on it. When I click on the VMC installer software version.9.4.4.17702 it won't install successfully. It kept displaying Error 2738: Could not access VBScript run time for custom action. I have tried the regsvr32 vbscript.dll and it registered successfully. I restarted the laptop and tried again but to no avail, the VMC now displayed this message.

"The wizard was interrupted before Vodafone Mobile Connect could be completely installed"

And now I'm completely clueless on the problem. FYI I've have tried other old version 9.2.x.x and 9.3.x.x and the result is the same. I've also disabled Antivirus and Firewall, don't know if that help though. To make sure that the USB stick is not broken, I've install it in Windows XP SP2 and it work fantastically. I can surf the internet with HSDPA connection 24/7 and no issue at all.

So if anyone has any idea or any method of troubleshooting, please help me. Thank's so much guys.

Hello, I have exactly the same problem and have tried all the suggested remedies with no success. Is there a resolution to this problem?

Hi nigelm,

Firstly, a very warm welcome to the eForum Family, it's always great to see new faces on here :).

As there's two separate issues on this thread can you please confirm if this is the VBScript error that you're experiencing or the no device issue? Also can you let me know the following information:

-Model of laptop
-Windows version
-Model of modem

Once I have these then I'll be able to look into this for you :).

Do we have a resolution to the original question yet?

I have been waiting for a month to see it resolved in this post.

I am running Win7 64bit pro.

Any information would be great.

Hi AJ,

The workaround we have posted should resolve the error. At the moment we do not have a fix, but it should be included in the next release of Vodafone Mobile Connect.

Hi I've got the same problem with my PAYG broadband dongle K3565 rev2 and I downloaded the latest version of Vmc .9.4.6.20529 but stil have this problem. I've tried the "vbscript" option on my SAMSUNG R522 running windows 7 premium. This has stumped me as I've looked in regedit and found no vbscript dll anywhere. I've tried to get ideas off Microsoft Answers but still no joy.
ANY HELP OR IDEAS WOULD BE GREAT

roll on an answer or the dongle's in the bin.

Hi monkey.mail2004

Unfortunately if the posted work around didn't work (no pun intended) then we really are out of options.

As VBscript.dll is a component of Windows 7 I would suggest maybe contacting the Software vendor as this sounds like an issue with the operating system. Did you upgrade to Windows 7 from Windows Vista, or was Windows 7 already on the laptop.

Cheers

I am running the next version up of VMC .9.4.6.20529 and it doesn't fix the problem.
I have contacted Microsoft and they say "CONTACT VODAFONE"
I am going round in circles with this problem and everyone is blaming everyone else and I'm left with a useless bit of equipment that doesn't work the way it was intended to.

As a reply to my earlier post (pasted below)

My Samsung N522 came pre-installed with Windows 7
