Here is a copy of the VMC software for Snow Leopard that I downloaded last week. It seems to have disappeared from the link given by George in this post

Download it HERE --> http://rapidshare.com/files/294287503/Voda..._3.04.08.04.zip

Here is the ReadMe PDF file that accompanies it --> http://rapidshare.com/files/294291544/VMB_...ReadMe_v1.0.pdf

I am having difficulties using a K3565 PAYG mobile broadband dongle with my macbook and Snow Leopard (version 10.6.1), I have downloaded VMC 3.04.10.

When I try to connect I get the following two error messages:

"Network Connection

A connection could not be established to the PPP server. Try reconnecting. If the problem continues, verify your settings and contact your administrator."

"Could not open network connection.

Check that the APN, user name and password in the current connection settings are correct.
If the problem persists, please try deleting the current connection settings, and re-starting the application."

I am currently using the default settings:
APN default user name is web, default password is also web
IP/DNS default has nothing entered in setting box.

Could you tell me if I need to alter these, if so what should they be changed to?

Thanks.

Hi Smoz,

A warm welcome to the eForum! You’ve come to the right place to get this sorted! :D

Firstly, make sure the APN you are using is INTERNET.

If you still have problems then I recommend you uninstall VMC, reboot and then reinstall. Reboot it again and then try the connection again.

The IP/DNS do not need any information adding in there.

Let me know how you get on! :)

As you’re new to the forum and clearly an online user, I want to take the opportunity to tell you about the fantastic things you can do through My Account, such as managing your price plan, upgrading or adding or removing bars. I recommend you take 5 minutes to take a look at all of the things you can do yourself online without having to contact the call centre, saving you lots of time! :)

All the best,

Jenny

Hello Siddie

THanks very much for putting that file up, however when i connect my usb (K3670) dongle to the my macbook pro it goes into kernal panic, is there a reason for that?

When I installed the file you put up there was an error come up saying the the extension (USBexpresscardCantWake_Huawei.kext) did not install properly.

could that be the reason

any help with this would be much appreciated

Many thanks

Jenny, thanks for the reply. The APN default is internet, I have also tried uninstalling/reboot/reinstall, still no joy.

Are the default APN user name/password correct? Both appear to be "web"?

@ Smoz

The APN is different for payt broadband - think its ppinternet or ppbroadband - cant quite remember - ill take a look at my magic later - i use a broadband sim with it..

Hi Smoz,

pp.internet is indeed the correct one for Pay as You Go broadband - Jenny has had a bit of a momentary lapse of concentration there (shhhh I won't tell her if you don't ;) )

Thanks to 'The Master' for calling it out! If you could let me know how you get on that would be awesome :D

Cheers, Ben

Thanks, The Master and Ben_Vodafone, managed to get it working using user name and password pp.internet.

May be worth mentioning for anyone else who is having difficulties that you also need to go into Vodafone Mobile Broadband preferences/Account Type and selecting Prepay.
