Vodafone K3765 Dongle - It Swaps Between 3G & 3G+ When Connected

Hi,

I have a monthly contract using a K3765 dongle.

I have a webpage open that is refreshing periodically automatically.

When connected using vodafone, either using '3g preferred' or '3g only' - the connection seems to continually change between 3g and 3g+ , and when doing so the connection appears to be apparently lost, even though VMC says connected. I'm using VMC lite 9.4

The auto refresh webpage doesn't load any more and a lot of the time if I manually refresh it or open a new browser window the same happens.

Using GPRS only, the connection is much more stable. I'm using 'always best connected' to give an auto network logon.

So, I think my questions are:
- how do I make the connection much more stable
- how do I prevent it from using 3G+ at all - can I?
- if it drops any way to reinitiate the connection cleanly automatically?

Welcome to the Forum!

It sounds like you may be on the cusp of 3G and 3G+ signal which would explain why this is happening.

If you select manage devices, then highlight the device and select edit. Choose the network tab you can set this to GPRS only. This would connect to only GPRS.

Unfortunately you can't re initiate the connection.

Have you tried using the booster cable that came supplied with your Modem? Sometimes this can provide a much more stable connection, this maybe to do with the shielding on your laptop.
