Hello.
I have a Samsung Galaxy S4 which also comes with the Vodafone Updates built in.
However, almost 2-3 times every day when using a certain app, I get an error message that says 'Unfortunately Vodafone Updates has stopped'.
Do you know if there is a fix for this as the last thing I want to do is uninstall the Updates app.
Many thanks,
Christopher

I would agree with N-dj. Unless you have a specific need for the Vodafone bundled Apps, I would disable them.
The same can be said for any Google Apps that you don't need or use, as they can also drain resources.

What use is it when the tech department either wants to reset or "switch it off and on" again?? How many years do you have to study in order to come to that assumption. Especially annoying is the fact that you assume that people are too stupid to to reformat / factory reset / or force stop applications...
I have an S4 and the Vodafone app clashes with multiple applications. Doesn't matter what the application you are using, whether you have it running in the background apps or clear the cache on the app.
Currently I think the best way to rid yourself of the pesky Vodafone apps which add absolutely NO value to the phone or the customer is to flash a clean Samsung ROM from Sammobile. (This will void the warranty, however is probably a better bet than dealing with Vodacom / Vodafone hassles in any event.. IMO).

OK.
1. A reset or power cycle fixes a lot of things
2. Not everyone is as well-informed as you. Some need (and ask for) clear and detailed instructions.
3. One person's bloatware is another's essential piece of kit. It would be nice to be able to uninstall what you don't need, though.

Thank you Northern-dj for that information, it was very kind of you to look it up and is valuable information for us.
I have been monitoring my Vodafone apps closely and suspect 'Vodafone Discover' could be the culprit of these error messages. I have taken screen shots of the info the app displays; battery life etc after each error message and each time the details displayed on the app have changed and the times of the update correspond to times of the error message.
If this app can be deleted and reinstalled from Google Play I am going to delete it and see if that makes a difference. I'll keep you posted.
Thank you
Lorraine

Hey guys,
Hope you're all well and sorry I haven't been on recently.
I guess we still don't have it resolved? I've had this error 4 times today. Whilst playing a Pool game and also when I clicked play on a video I took of my family. I had to wait 8 seconds whilst the phone froze. It's really bugging me now!
Kind regards,
Chris

Hi Chris,
I’ve just spoken with James and he’s been unable to replicate this issue.
At this stage, I’d suggest a full factory reset of your phone and before reinstalling any apps, see if the issue reappears. Remember to make sure all your important data is backed up first.
If it doesn’t, start adding your apps back one-by-one and see what happens. It may be a specific app that’s interfering with the update apps.
Thanks
Andrew

Hi Andrew,
Thanks for the update.
I would prefer to avoid doing the Factory Reset as it's such a pain.
However, I will list the apps that I have downloaded on my Galaxy S4 and see who else has similar to myself and we may in the end find out which one is causing the problem.
8 Ball Pool
Barclays Banking
eBay
InstaFollow
My Vodafone
Sky+
Sonic 1
SwiftKey
Tagstagram Pro
Xbox SmartGlass
I hope this helps.
Regards,
Chris
