Vodafone Updates Error

Beugel1987

Hello.

I have a Samsung Galaxy S4 which also comes with the Vodafone Updates built in.

However, almost 2-3 times every day when using a certain app, I get an error message that says 'Unfortunately Vodafone Updates has stopped'.

Do you know if there is a fix for this as the last thing I want to do is uninstall the Updates app.

Many thanks,

Christopher

We have on here offered before to test there Apps before, But as with most it fall on deaf ears at some point

Vodafone needs to engage with its users on apps

On most apps you have a email to send ideas to developers

But as with Most this Vodafone they don't like negative criticisms

In fairness, doors are starting to open with regard to App testing. I was recently invited to offer some feedback on the New Vodafone VIP App. It was at a Consumer feedback level but is an opening to more involvement in the future I hope?

If the App development was purely for one device then the process of implementing change would be very easy!

We have to remember that Vodafone sell and support many, many devices from all sorts of manufacturer and of all types of Phone from Feature to Smart Phone.

There are many factors that control how an App behaves from screen size to the amount of available resources.

The doors of communication are open and there are many people working very hard to ensure that the voice of the eForum is heard.

There is a difference between Negative Criticism and Positive Critique - The latter you can act upon, the former you can't... :smileywink:

Well when the S was out i was put in touch the the company then and went through with thos Guys

But they were employed By Vodafone

I was the first person they had spoke to and welcomed my help

as we No People need to be in control of what apps are on there device

But when Apps are causing issues they need to look into this and not well we carn't duplicate this

???? I can on my S3

and its the Updates app and the discover apps that are to blame

and its worce when its on WiFi its on a regular scan its deff trying to comunicate with a server

No if the apps have been upfated on another device it is fine

so it looks like one of the updates has failed or been removed

Glad that they are looking at feed back on apps its about time then perhaps they will give apps that people want and not what there PR team think

One App People wanted was a F1 Vodafone app that had exclusive stuff

No point in that one

Hi

I just wanted to say thank you to those who are trying to get to the bottom of this problem, I appreciate it.

Also I wondered if Chris still had this error message occurring after resetting his phone.

Lorraine

Hi Lorraine,

Hope all is well.

I did reset the phone and all was fine for the first week. However, over the course of last week, I've been getting the error more times than ever.

I'm getting sick of this now.

It seems everybody still has this issue.

Kind regards,

Chris

Had the same problem tried everything to fix it nothing worked. So in the end I reflashed the phone with unbranded rom and had no problems since. Yet again vodafone own software spoils a great phone.

Glad you got it sorted but there is no need to do that
On the phone go to settings> manage applications > all applications then scroll down to the app press on it, now we carn't remove it as its bloatware but you can force stop then disable it that fixes the issue
This is Vodafone's issue as it is there apps
I run there rom only for the purposes of the forum but I have disabled all there apps for battery drain purposes
Vodafone would love it if we could not disable these, but thanks to Android we can
Yes you can debrand but if you have VF insurance its void you also need the right firmware
But this is down to VF to sort or remove the app in the next update as its not needed

I do have vodafone insurance but debranding it wont effect mybinsurance. I had one of the first few release day phones that came unbranded. However I had a problem and had to send to vodafone for repair when it came back its wasvodafone branded which I would have kept if it hadnt caused problems so all I have done is put the phone back as it was from factory. So they arent going to refuse a insurance claim because of that

For the last few days I have been getting a notification saying that vodafone updates need updating. It says that there is 0mb to download. It fails to download. The message comes up again about 30 minutes later. Is there anyway to stop this? There's nothing to download and it's so annoying that it repeatedly comes up.

I've had this a few times over the past couple of weeks.

I just clear the notification.
