Vodafone Wallet - Nightmare Issues

I use a Samsung A5 2016 which already has a NFC SIM installed from Vodafone..  I already had vodafone wallet installed holding loyallity cards, but decided to set up three bank cards.  No issues registering the cards.   After setting up popped to the local tescos to try out, go to pay contactless, and the card payment is blocked.

As advised to do on the app contact customer services to unblock.  Contacted Customer services, in a oversea country, had to ask someone how to resolve the issue.  Then proceed to tell me to resolve the issue I had to send agood quality colour scanned copy of my passport or driving licences.  Firstly he said i could do this via the app, which there is no facility to do so, then said i could email it.  On Serveral occassions I told him there was no way I was going to do this, and why that level of ID was required, he couldnt answer.  I ended up hangin up the call.  Called vodafone the next day in the afternoon, spoke with a servcice rep, did the same had to ask someone, and repeated I needed to email my Driving Licence or passport.  Ask again why is this rerequired, no mention on the app this was required, after a heated argument asked to speak with a manager.  With in an Hour was called back,, told a 3rd time no that the process for this issue was to send passport / driving lience via email.  I explained email wasnt secure and asked why and what vodafone use the information for, couldnt tell me.  I asked did she work for Vodafone she replied yes in the vodafone group.  She agreed to call back the next day after I refused.  Give due next day did call, repeating about sending id docs, I said just cancel vodafone wallet.  Irroncially she says I can do that, but then says I will then need to speak with vodafone to remove from my account.      I have spoken with both 191 staff to remove wallet and couldnt answer why that level of ID was required, and when I called Customer Complains they couldnt answer why they would require that for.  Also customer compaints can see what 191 do with your account, but no record of conversation with Vodafone Wallet.  I suspect Wallet is a 3rd party company acting onbehalf.  I wouldnt trust vodafone with the use of the wallet until they review customer services.  Such a bad experiance wouldnt touch it with a barge pole.  And good luck in speaking with Customer Services, is another overseas desk who have not got a clue and are script driven.

I agree with you that I’d also be very hesitant in emailing sensitive information too @plightfo

I’m wondering why the card is blocked in the first place ?

May I ask if you’ve tried deleting the card and then re installed it ?

Just to add I prefer Android Pay which works 100% on my Samsung Galaxy s8.
