Hi, I signed up for a new Vodafone contract. The store registered me for the advantage discount and I have had the email today to say that the discount has been applied, however, the email refers to my temporary number. I am porting my old number and this will not be done until next week due to the new year holiday. I have read on the faq page that you will need to reapply for the advantage discount if your number changes. They did not mention this in store. Some people at customer services seem to think that I will need to reapply but most are sure that I will not. It must be standard for people to port numbers straight after signing up for the advantage discount in store. Can anyone clarify the position please?

When you change the contract in any way the discount needs to be reapplied and the form completed. This also includes a change of number.
In this case, the discount will be with the previous number and will need to be resubmitted for the number change.
You need to refer to the Advantage terms and conditions. It's your discount and you need to make sure you keep it.

If this is for the VEA Employers Discount then when the Contract ends or an upgrade is accepted then another £10 membership fee is applicable as the discount has to be applied for.
Its my belief that this does not include a person porting in their own number from another Network. In essence nothing is happening to the Contract except the switch of mobile number being used.
The Vodafone Social Media Team here who read all posts catch up with your thread and they'll help you with this situation if they can im sure.

Thanks for your help. It seems daft that I may have to reapply as surely most people who join a new network port a number across. Surely it would be disingenuous to allow someone to take a new contract with a discount in store and then for that discount to be lost when my number is ported into the network.
Its a bit frustrating that no one at customer services seems to be able to give me a definitive answer as surely this is common for new customers. Not a great start to my time with Vodafone. Hopefully this is just a glitch!

Ideally, you should have waited until the number ported over and the store should have mentioned having to reapply the discount for any change. Unfortunately, to prove you are still eligible for the discount and your employer particates on the scheme you need to complete and resubmit the form. As you will also be rejoining the scheme with a different number and completing the form again ticking all the boxes, this will also mean needing to pay the £10.00 membership fee.
This is taken from the Advantage FAQ's. https://support.vodafone.co.uk/Getting-started-and-upgrading/Vodafone-Advantage/57873681
'The Vodafone Advantage discount will remain in place for the minimum term of your contract. If any changes and upgrades are applied to an account in the Vodafone Advantage scheme, the discount will be cancelled. At this point, you’ll need to complete the online form to re-apply for the discount.'
You also need to refer to the Terms and Conditions which you will be agreeing to where this is also mentioned.
I trust this clears it up for you and you have the correct answer.

I agree the guys in the store are better placed to advise @Harveychris100
As we are customers like you who have replied thus far perhaps let the Social Media Team officially clarify.
I personally agree with you.

@Harveychris100 I've raised this internally so we can get a definitive answer As soon as we have any update we'll let you know.
In the meantime, could you let us know if this was applied in store? Or was it applied online?

@Harveychris100 If you've moved your number to us from another network, the Vodafone Advantage scheme should of been applied to this number and not the temporary number.
This means that you'll have to re-apply for the scheme and you will be charged £10 again for the membership fee.
It's disappointing that this wasn't advised to you in store and I apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused. We'd like to put this right for you
Please check your private message inbox for details on how to get in touch with our team.
Please note, you'll have to apply the Vodafone Advantage scheme yourself after your number has changed over - you can apply for this online.
