Vodafone and iphone 6 - intermittent issue with 'No Service' that can only be fixed by a restart.

Hello, there is a problem with the iPhone 6 that periodically (more than once a day) the phones switches to 'no service' and this can only be fixed by restarting the phone or removing and replacing the sim. Apple initially thought this was a hardware issue so have replaced my phone. No change. I have also replaced my sim. No change. I have wiped my whole phone so it has no apps, Apple or 3rd party, no change. Turns out I'm not the only person having this problem:

It would appear its a problem with the interaction between Vodafone, 4g and the iPhone 6.

How will this be resolved?

Thanks,

Dan

Hi

I'm having the same issue, iphone 6 switches to "No service".I'm noticing this from last week and it only happens in the afternoon.Only fix to the problem at the moment is by restarting the phone.

Picked up few threads on apple support community & vodafone e-form its more related to people on Vodafone Network.

Could be faulty batch of SIMS?? I don't think its a Hardware issue.

Phone Software is up to date IOS 8.1.2

OK, great, so I've checked my software is up to date (it was).

What kind of response am I likely to get if I take my phone to a Vodafone store, bearing in mind I work away a lot so it's not particularly easy for me to get to a store.
Am I likely to get the phone swapped or more suggestions like switch it off and on again (ive mastered that now thanks)

Sarah,

Doesn't this thread and all these people mean you are now aware of a problem between Vodafone and Apple?

Thanks,

Dan

Okay,I have noticed "no service" occurs when phone switches from 3G to 4G and vice-versa.So, I ruled out its a hardware issue. It has to be a software issue when the phone switches the Network. Is this down to Apple or Vodafone to sort out?

The same issue near Elstree. Restart can fix it.

I have been also having the same issues in the Bath Area.  Went into Vodafone and had Sim changed.  Also spoke with Apple and restored IOS and Network Settings but still happening intermittently

I have found sometimes I can regain the signal by either entering Airplane Mode, or changing between 3G and 4G on cellular settings.

Hi

I use the iPhone 6 Plus.

Airplane mode will refresh the network connection but I can understand how frustrating this may be to have to do this regularly.

An  Genius Bar would run a diagnostic and look at any crash logs to ensure the iPhone is performing within its parameters.

I'm fortunate not to be afflicted at this time but a while back when I did I tested my iPhone by like some here swapping my SIM card via a Sim Swap which did not unfortunately resolve the issue.

I also tested by using another Networks Payg Sim Card in my handset as my iPhone's are unlocked to all Networks to see if the issue persisted.

It didn't so as a process of elimination this highlighted the Network was at issue ,which I firmly believe was mast congestion as the Network updated their masts and how many people were using the service at the time etc.

Hi. I'm wondering if anyone has had success with this problem.  I have an iphone 6 plus on a sim only contract. Everything was fine for two months then this week I suffered the same problem as reported in other posts.  my iOS is up to date.  I sometimes fix the problem by removing the sim and then putting it back in but it doesn't always work.  I noticed that when the problem has occurred and I look in Settings the option of Carrier is missing.  Normally Carrier is there and it says Vodafone.  Missing completely is weird.

I see no point in going to a Vodafone shop as they didn't sell me the phone.  I tried live chat for support and they said they couldn't help at all but to go to a shop.  I guess I will end up cancelling the contract but what if the problem is with the phone and not the Sim card!

Does everyone still have the problem?

Actually I should have added that I have seen mention of "carrier updates" on various forums.  The live chat I had could not help with that. Does anyone know if Vodafone has an update that can be downloaded. My version appears to be vodafone UK 19.1 or that is what I see in Settings/General/About/Carrier.

Hi,

If a carrier update was available it would show up in the iPhone's settings.

Networks and Apple unfortunately don't give release information out to customers 😔
