Vodafone home fibre broadband and VPN

Hi

I'm just considering moving to Vodafone home fibre broadband from Virgin. I need to be able to access my company vpn in order to work from home. Does anyone know if there are any technical reasons or blockers that might prevent this working on Vodafone home broadband? Reason for asking is that I know some broadband providers do not allow vpn use.

Many thanks

David

Hi,

I'm not sure if the information in this similar discussion will help.

Hi

Many thanks for your reply. I've had a look at the link that you sent and this seemed to be about problems associated with setting up a vpn server. In my case, I just need to connect to a vpn server which will be hosted in my company's IT department. So my usage is a little different.

It would be useful to confirm that I can connect to my company vpn before I sign up for a 12 month contract. Anyone from vodafone able to confirm ?

Regards

@Billingd best thing to do is check with your company IT department which VPN technology (PPTP, IPSec etc.) they are using and which network ports they require.

Once you have this information give the Vodafone broadband team a call, they should be able to comfirm wether youre requirements will be met.

Another this worth checking, and it would only be an indication rather than confirmation, try the VPN on a Vodafone mobile connection. I would assume that if something is available on their mobile data network it would also be available on the home broadband network.
