I am repairing a laptop for a customer and he has one of these. The connection shows 7.2MBS when connected but everything is dead slow.

Can anyone shed any light on this? Seems that the connection quality affects the speed, but its still very very slow.

thanks

Hi RichyBaby,

Welcome to the Vodafone eForum from all of the team.:)

To be honest there could be a couple of reasons for the very slow connectivity, the first one would be the network coverage, When you open the Vodafone mobile Connect (VMC) software and you connect to the internet can i ask if this is showing 2G or 3G network?

Can you also post me the Postcode where you/ the modem is so we can check the coverage in that area for you?

Hi,
Thanks. I am at EH39 5HA and customer is at EH32 0RE (approx).

He is a truck driver and is experiencing slow speeds at most times.

Hi RichyBaby,

Thanks for getting back to me, i have checked the two postcodes provided and can see that at;

EH39 5HA - there is no 3G coverage, there is also limited 2G coverage in this area and appears to be a black spot for Vodafone coverage, this will mean that the upload and download speed will be quite low/slow.

EH32 0RE - there is no 3G coverage an although ther is 2G coverage it is in a spot of variable indoor suburban coverage, this means that at time the connection could be slower depending on the exact location at the postcodes.

Unfortunately there isn't much we can do in these areas, however we may be able to look at improving these areas if you fill in the signal feedback form online.

Thanks. My customer also tells me that at one time he used to get a signal strength meter and notification of whether he was on 3G or 2G. Now it doesn't get anything like that.

Is there something I can install for him that will restore this functionality?

Hi RichyBaby,

This should be visible right on the main screen of the Vodafone Mobile Connect software. It'll show signal strength and network name above the "Connect" button.

I trust this helps :)
