What are the correct advanced PPPoE settings?

I have my vodafone broadband username and password and had it working fine, however after several months of it working fine it looks like my BT Openreach vdsl modem (ECI B-Focus v-2fub/r Rev B) kicked the bucket. Before replacing it with a Huawei HG612 or some other discrete vdsl modem I wanted to make sure that the settings I am using are not causing my issues. I have a hardware firewall, running Sophos UTM with two network ports on it, one that connects to the openreach modem and then the other to my Asus router. The firewall box then gives the modem the PPPoE details and connects to the internet. The questions are: should i have ipv4 default gateway selected in the PPPoE settings? (was done automagically by a wizard) default route metric is 20? any advantage in changing this? there are tick boxes for asymmetric and vdsl, any point in enabling these? (bearing in mind that everything had been fine with them unticked)

@DontRightlyKnow Thanks for contacting us, if the default settings for your PPPoE have been working fine up to this point, I would stick with them. Better the devil you know, I can't see any advantage in altering these.

Try your new router and let us know how you get on. If you encounter any problems you can contact our Broadband Live Chat team, they'll be able to check everything is working correctly from our side and advise you on your settings.
