WiFi Calling working on my Carphone Warehouse phone

So i received a txt message from Vodafone today saying Wifi Calling has been enabled on my account. I checked my phone settings and Wifi Calling option is now displayed in the menu.

My Samsung G S7 Edge was purchased through CPW and I knew Wifi Calling was not available

I am not in a position to test this feature but thought I would post here to understand if this is actually now live on 3rd party handsets or if anyone else has noticed the Wifi Calling option appear?

Yes from the official help pages on WiFi calling currently with Samsung Galaxy eligible phones supplied directly by Vodafone will work with calling over wifi.

Not sure why it's showing in your phones settings. 

The version of Android firmware on Cpw phones is different to the branded phones supplied by Vodafone. 

I think the text you received was a system automatic one.

I have received the txt messages before so gathered this was automated. However the option in the phone is new as i don't recall seeing this because i looked for it before and wasnt there.

I did have an update to my phone a few weeks ago i seem to recall

I will check later if this actually works as i have zero signal in my house.

Yeah I'd certainly check by toggling it on. 

You may need to speak with Customer service to get the service turned on in your account.

So it would seem I have a working Wifi Calling S7 Edge through CPW!!

Tested at home with no signal I see a phone and wireless icon appear in the top which must indicate I am ready for Wifi calling. Move into a good signal spot and the phone/wireless icon disappears. Seems more cleverer than the O2 app which was hit and miss whether it worked.

Have you attempted to make a phone call over Wifi ?

The other Network offering is an App so imo not properly integrated into the phone resulting in limited use.

Yep, outgoing calls work too. I haven't seen anything on the Vodafone site to suggest a rollout or partial rollout but it seems i'm fully working on Wifi (for the time being) :smileyhappy:

Also to note, just to be sure i was actually using Wifi, my call log now shows wifi icons against the calls. Previous calls not using Wifi are not displayed

Hi. There were reports from other users that their phones from CPW were working with WiFi calling but following the next firmware update it disappeared.

Thanks for the heads up, i manually update my phone so won't update further until I have found out more
