Z2 switching to Chat

Just wondering if anyone knows why this is happening.

Yesterday I noticed that whilst texting my lovely shiny z2 switched the chat instead of SMS? Totally baffled me as I haven't changed anything in the settings.

This only happens when I am texting my girlfriend, who now has a z3 compact.

I now manually have to swict modes when texting....

BTW....what is chat?

Have you done a system update recently?  It's possible that the device is using a data-based messaging app in place of traditional SMS and is detecting that your girlfriend has a compatible device it can talk to.

This I did think of, but the z3 compact doesn't have a chat option that I have seen? Plus she wasn't getting messages from me when in chat mode?

Hi @SonofNod,

Please make sure that your partner has Rich Communications enabled.

She can do this by clicking on Settings>More>Then scrolling down to see the Rich Communications option.

Alternatively, you can disable yours by following the same steps. This would mean you revert to normal SMS and MMS messages when communicating with her.

Thanks for the help. Switched it off, didn't really see the benefit.
