Hi,
Your router should have a web page (or menus / commands etc) to let you configure its DHCP server. You'll want to pick one of your IP addresses and make a static mapping (it might be called a fixed entry or something similar) between that IP address and the MAC address of the Sure Signal, which will be on a label on the VSS itself. It'll be of the format 00:20:ff:12:34:56.
Back in 2010 the VSS wouldn't work properly unless it was accessing Vodafone through NAT, but that was fixed not long after-- towards the end of 2010 if I remember rightly. So you shouldn't have any problems with a static IP.
If your router won't let you do a static mapping, get a different router 🙂
All the best,
Martin

You will need to have a DHCP server on the subnet of your ip range, configured so that there is a single reserved address for the SS to be issued, and nothing else.
There is no way of logging into the SS to assign one directly, it has to be through DHCP as far as I know.

I don't think NAT is needed any more - although it used to be, when we 1st got a SS I tried to do what you are attempting and couldn't get it to work, and have not tried since.
DHCP however is required, but it does not have to be issued by the router, it could be another device on one of the other IP addresses in your 15 (as the 16th would be the router's address/default gateway)
