Hi, I'm wondering if anyone could tell me which data plan I should be subscribed to for the hotspot to work. All replies appreciated

Hi pumpkin16,

Unlike the iPhone, there's no particular plans you need to be on to allow you to tether via a BlackBerry. That said, if you're on a particularly old plan you may have issues such as tethering not being inclusive.

What's happening when you're trying to tether? What are you doing step-by-step and do you get any error message?

Dave

Hi dave,

Thanks for the reply. The plan I'm on just now is just the £5 a month for bis. I went into my connections and clicked on the hotspot. It says connecting then a message comes up saying please contact your service provider and subscribe to a mobile hotspot data plan.

Hi pumpkin16,

From what you’ve said it sounds like you are a Pay as you go customer.

Do you just have the BIS pack on your account or do you have any other packs that have data included in them?

Also can you see if tethering can be used through the Desk Top Manager Software when you connect your phone with a USB?

This will help us identify if it’s a settings issue or a problem with the wireless hotspot feature.

On a side note, can you also tell me what software version you are currently running on your phone?

James
