This isn't quite true, in that your paying the £5 for BBM, your paying for BB Services as a whole for any device running on OS lower than 10. Now that the BBM feature can be used on other devices, the older handsets, i'm afraid, will still be subject to the charge.

FOR CLARIFICATION. THe important thing is that for a handset running on OS less than 10 - the BlackBerry.Net APN is required. This either needs to be built into the plan or added as an extra service, this is the only stipulation between old and new BlackBerrys. As a result, a charge may apply. Take Care Guys.

I have just received my BlackBerry Passport mobile phone. However, two stores have now informed me that the Red Box doesn't work on it and so there is no way of transferring over my contacts and pictures. Is there a way?
