Solution

cannot connect to MY OWN btopenzone account.

Hi All,

have read a lot of threads about btopenzone but they all are referring to the vodafone package access which only works on premium points (openzone but not btfon)

I am  a bt total broadband customer, i have free access tobt openzone and btfon points.

I have been testing using my own wifi router.

Computer.

If i turn off my secure connection and connect via btfon or openzone it connects to the net, open a browser and the btlogon screen appears.

I have two choices , if i am a bthomehub customer logon here ( it opens a new window)

if i am a fonera customer ( mobile phone packages), logon here, and there are boxes for the user /pw. So i click the BThomehub choice new window opens I select whether i am totalbroadband, openzone or btfon. I click on totabroadband enter user an pw and it logs me on tells me to open a browser and i am away.

Phone (Blackberry torch)

turn on wifi, connect to openzone(or btfon) , sometimes i get a wifi notifier in the notification bar, after 90sec get a message do i want to log on,  click on it , - yes,  browser opens , btlogon screen arrives  (the 2nd one above not the one with the bt/fonera choice ie it goes directly to the right screen knowing i am connected to btfon wifi) ,  select bttotalbroadband, enter user / pw  as per pc and get --

back to same screen to re- enter details - NO EXPLANATION /MESSAGE - but appears vodafone does not recognise my right to select bttotalbroadband

do the same as above but select BTfon (or openzone depending which one i have selected as wifi connection)and get

UNABLE TO FIND REQUESTED SERVER..yet, I am on wifi connected to btfon/openzone/bttototaBroadband.

So as a test, I turn off off wifi, open browser (using phone network), enter www.btfon.com into url, up comes the screen with the option bthomehub or fonera, i select homehub to go to logon screen , but end up on a btfon status screen to see if i have it (presumably because i have wifi off)

All I can conluded is the UNABLE TO FIND REQUESTED SERVER is a deliberate vodafone block, to make me use fonera, which is noton my contract.

any one any other ideas, amI doing it wrong?

Vodafone don't have any control over what you can connect to via wifi. This will either be a restriction in place by BT or on the Blackberry. You're barking up the wrong tree thinking its Voda stopping you.

My Sony TV is not working, I'll get Philips to fix it.

Sorry couldn't resist that one. 🙂

As Rupert said Vodafone have no control on WiFi. Try speaking to BT.

"If it ain't broke, don't fix it!"

i dug out my old xda and tried on that, it works fine (no sim fitted so it is acting just like a pc).

so bt are not preventing it working.

so you telling me bt bar connection via blackberry??

did a bit more poking around if i connect via the secure connecton 1st then try opez or btfon both work.

if i clear them as saved sites, they then won't work until i use the secure connection 1st, so apols  to VF,will have to try bt /blackberry sites.

ta guys.

must have ages today talking to vodafone and bt, to no avail

i have retested the xda fine, fitted the vodaphone sim still fine.

but cannot get BB to logon onto homehub openzone or fon.  Sometin-mes i get the login screen but after entering my details logon but the next screen where it says launch browser does not work

has anyone ( who has bt isp and total broadband or fon) got this working on a openzone or fon with a berry,  not interested in the package version, i wan to use my free bt connection.

if i turn off the phone network and start wifi, then select bt openzone, it connects to router, if i then leave it long engough i get this message.

you are attempting to open a secure connection to www.bis7.eu.blackberry .com but the servers cetificate contains  a different domain name www.btopenzone.com -

using btfon /openzonee i am not trying to use a secure connection.

if iknow go back to the blackberry desktop , this is when i have a message notifier with a wifi symbol

So your problem is the fact that.

The blackberry is trying to create a secure connection to BIS server and when doing so the server at btopenzone.com is sending it's own certificate back to your device and that defo won't work.

It is a conflict of security certificates using BT openzone. Your blackberry WILL ALWAYS connect to BIS as a secure connection whether you want it to or not. Not sure of a resolution. Try googling "wrong security certificate issued using BT openzone" or something along them lines.

I will see what I can fond for you to.

Sorry fella,

Spent 45mins looking for a solution but to no avail. Have you got access to another BB? I don't have one otherwise I would give it a go sorry.

I'm out.

thanks carl.

tried googling that most of the replies i have already been into, any further help  greatly appreciated

NOTE i am doing this with vodafone phone network off to be absolutely sure i am connectedby wifi tofon or openzone.

It's defiantly an issue with the device or the Openzone not Voda.

I just can't find a solution. Dont think I know anyone with a BB either, lol.
