Is your spare phone still a Blackberry ? If so which one ?

If not perhaps try another email app instead of the one your currently trying.

Samsung Galaxy s²⁴ Ultra 512gb.

Is the email account a corporate one?  If it is, you could also try speaking to your IT department.

I am just an ordinary bloke on the street lol  its annoying as my partner has another 9300 and still gets emails

Blackberrys are not like other smart phones. They have extra security built into them and thus you can't just get email going to any phone. You have to configure it using the device's PIN number. You have to use this website to get the job done

Phones come with a downloaded app to utilise emails.

But it within your App Store will be alternative email apps a person can download and use instead.

Not Blackberry devices on the old Blackberry OS - let's not confuse the OP.

They are specialised devices and need to be configured carefully using the website that I linked to. Once you've logged in there should be an option to change device and you'll need the pin number for that.

You'll need to download the correct version of Blackberry Desktop Manager from here

http://uk.blackberry.com/support/smartphones/blackberry-curve-9300/os6/software-updates.html

Then update the OS on the phone
