My mum has a Nokia and changed her phone number today. My family have I phones. When we try to txt her, our messages are now sending as an i message. This never happened before her number changed. My husband has tried resetting his phone. No joy. Can anybody help me??
Solved! Go to best answer.

The number won't be brand new. It will be a recycled number and obviously the last user was an iPhone user and didn't de-register the number from iMessage.
You won't be able to do anything about that. All you can do is speak to EE and they'll have to fix it or issue you with a new number.

Try turning off iMessage in your iPhones.
Settings-Messages-iMessage and see if the text sends with a green bubble around it.
An iMessage will only send to another iPhone.

Hello. Thank you for that but does this mean that I can never send an iMessage. My mum has a Nokia so I don't understand why our iPhones have started doing this just because her phone number changed. It's weird because as you say, an iMessage will only send to another I phone? I don't understand why it is sending in this way. But my mum clearly does not receive the texts.

I appreciate that.
Have you tried the method I mentioned ?
Try deleting your mums number and re enter it back into your contacts app.

Hello there. Yes when I turn off the iMessage the message sends in green as a txt. Thank you. The only thing with this as my daughter has said is I won't be able to receive any photos from her or anyone else. But I suppose I can just turn it off when I need to txt my mum. It's a part solution. Thank you

Just a thought.
I assume your your mum has never used an iPhone but it could be worth her trying to de register anyway. Just a thought.
