Hi loboski,
Firstly, a very warm welcome to the eForum Family, it's always great to see new faces on here

.
Hmmm, this does sound like quite a strange one

, I'm confident it can be resolved though

. If the USB port isn't recognising the modem correctly then it may indicate a conflict somewhere. One issue that can happen is that the modem components fail to install correctly due to a USB mass storage device already being in place. I'd recommend trying the following:
-Keep the modem plugged in and close VMC if it's open (File > Exit)
-Go to Start > Control Panel
-Select view by icons at the top right
-Double Click System
-Click Device Manager
-Click the + Next to Universal Serial Bus Controllers
-Uninstall any Mass Storage or Composite Devices in place
-Unplug the modem, wait 10 seconds and then plug back in
-If all goes well it will install all of the modem drivers correctly (this will take a minute or 2)
-Load VMC and try connecting
Let me know how you get on

.
