lolipop update fix galaxy s5

What specific issues are vodafone having releasing the lolipop update fix. My phone has been very buggy since the update provided in January. I can't afford to factory reset as I have encrypted code generator app on my phone which I am required to have for work. It's getting very annoying that I'm having to use a disfunctional phone at the moment especially as I am on a hefty price plan. It doesn't give me much confidence in vodafone that it is taking an exceptional amount of time for the issue to be resolved. With my contact ending next month not sure if vodafone is the right path to take again.

Is it possible to downgrade to kit kat as my phone worked perfectly then?

My wife has the same issue, but her phone is less than a month old supplied with lollipop (galaxy s5). My phone is over a year old updated to lollipop with no issues since full restore to lollipop, prior to that major battery drain.

So to fix my wife’s do I do a total reset ?? or is there a underlying bug in lollipop that has not shown up on my phone yet.

Does the "wipe cache partition" option also include a full reset?   If not, I'd give this a go before setting off down the repair route (it would be part of that process, so you won't have lost anything).   Don't forget to back up your content and make sure your contacts are fulyl sync'd first.  If you have an external sd card, it's a good idea to remove that too, just in case it gets wiped as well.

Lollipop 5.1 is on the way, mate, so it may be best to wait for that to see if it rectifies the problems with 5.0. I'm still getting the messaging error, but as I said it's only an intermittent problem for me, so I decided to wait and see what the next update brings.

Any idea when 5.1 is coming out as this is driving me up the wall now. Its been buggy ever since 5 has been released. And yes I have wiped the cache and done a factory reset.

Hi @thedozyone

All of the information can be found on our firmware statement.

Thanks,

ChazzD

I'm in agreement, I've only had the handset about 10 months and since the upgrade it crashes daily. A "we don't answer firmware questions" is a bit of a cop out.

I spoke to Samsung and we seem to be at the mercy of Vodafone to release the fix.

This is getting really frustrating now and its not a faulty handset. It is software. It didn't crash before.

I agree this needs to be fixed soon.

Why do you guys constantly post that? How about an update regarding when we can realistically EXPECT an update? Your firmware statement is nonsense, because if it was to be taken word for word then 5.0 would have been a solid update and we wouldn't be having this conversation.

Vodafone better sort this and quick, otherwise I'll be looking at an alternative network when my current contact expires. What was a perfectly good phone has now become annoying and unpredictable.

That of course meant to say *current contRact*, just thought I'd save some pedant the effort. :Smiling:

Agreed, thedozyone. The sooner we see firmware updates direct from the manufacturer rather than filtered through the networks, the better. Less hassle, less errors, less bloat!

Let's see how Microsoft get on now that they've decided to go down that route....

So there seems to be more than a handful of folk on here who are experiencing the same issues and getting the same rubbish statement from Vodafone. I would be interested to know where we all stand on breech of contract here. If they peddle out some wares that aren't fit for purpose, they need to fix it, not now, but right now! Otherwise I think they may be failing to provide us with the service and equipment we are all paying through the nose for.

I am tired of this now, this has been going on for months and every other operator in the UK has pushed out a fix that has returned the affected handsets to a usable condition. How long does it take to put some bloatware and crap on an OS for gods sake?!

Vodafone tech team - you are not helping with your bone statements to read another bone statement, you need to start pushing your employers from your end as well please.
