lolipop update fix galaxy s5

What specific issues are vodafone having releasing the lolipop update fix. My phone has been very buggy since the update provided in January. I can't afford to factory reset as I have encrypted code generator app on my phone which I am required to have for work. It's getting very annoying that I'm having to use a disfunctional phone at the moment especially as I am on a hefty price plan. It doesn't give me much confidence in vodafone that it is taking an exceptional amount of time for the issue to be resolved. With my contact ending next month not sure if vodafone is the right path to take again.

Is it possible to downgrade to kit kat as my phone worked perfectly then?

@Ben_H

While the factory reset has worked for some it doesn't work for all. I have been through numerous suggestions none of which fix it.

Factory reset, Minimal apps, Safe mode, clearing cache. For some of us the only fix is going to be the software update. While other providers are sending down the update as soon as possible vodafone seem to be lagging behind.

You must be able to see our frustration but I agree that attacking other members doesn't get us anywhere.

Unfortunately Ben your firmware statement doesn't explain why other networks have fixed the problem yet Vodafone sre still "testing" it.

Not once has any member of Vodafone conveyed an apology for this, or offered compensation.

That my friend is poor customer service, there are no excuses for it.
Not only are people anoyed with the fault, but also Vodafones handling of the issue.

So what if you loose some customers eh? Plenty more mugs round the corner...........

Last time I went to the "Live help" that didn't work either!

It's alive! Did the upgrade via keis and the phone is way way better now. I made sure I had 3Gb of space on the phone, backed up, restarted and the did the update and everything remained in my phone as well as the phone now works and works well. Pages and apps open quickly again and there is no noticeable lag. Also, the battery is doing good after 3 hours and playing music, I have only lost 8%. At long last, my excellent phone is back. Proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that the phone wasn't broken, it was the upgrade as we suspected. Download ladies and gentlemen, it's all good.

I think I'll wait until a Vodafone Tech Team member has cleared this as safe to use.

Sheephelmet - it may be an idea to also do one last factory reset just to clear out any bits of code that could potentially cause issues. I am pleased to hear that the update has come out and seems to have resolved the issues that you've been experiencing for so long.

ajl2012 - I'm afraid that you won't get much comment beyond there being an update now rolling out. They'll tell you that it is to correct some of the issues people were having.

PWIAC

OTA upgrade popped up just before left for work. Downloaded and installed. S5 is performing much better than it was. More like the phone it was originally. Still having a random issue with Weather app stopping, but otherwise ok.

Shame my phone has been utter tripe for the last 6 months. Still heading back to Apple when I can, as even though this isn't Samsungs fault, they apparently have no clout when the operators leave their phones in a state after an upgrade.

Changes I have noticed so far:

Lollipop's priority mode is now gone,  just do not disturb now. I had to set up the scheduling again but you can still choose to have interruptions.

Animations and general performance now much better

Messages no longer disappear until restart

Hasn't crashed on me yet

Pop up saying contacts has crashed does not show anymore

Battery life improvements

This is a very stable build and worthwhile upgrade over the original

Apparently 5.1.1 is about to be released in the UK on the S5. I wonder how long it will be before vodafone release it OTA? Being as we haven't even got 5.1 yet!

Is there any update on the date of the firmware release??
