lost i-phone

I have just lost my i-phone but I am hoping to find it again so have not yet gone about erasing data and buying a new one. The 'Finding i-phone' message on my I-pad says that it is off line.  Does that mean that no one is using it yet?

It shows that the phone is switched off or is in airplane mode , It will show online as soon as someone connects to a cellular mast or on wifi.  .

Have you reported your phone as lost? If not I'd recommend doing so immediately so that at least your SIM card can be blocked. Remember that you're liable for all call charges until the phone is reported as lost, so you could end up with a massive bill pretty quickly

And that acts as a timely reminder why you should always use a PIN lock on your sim. Of course it is only effective if the phone has been turned off then back on or the sim is put into another phone.. If you did not have a sim PIN enabled then as advised report it lost /stolen and block the sim, it will not affect the ability of the phone to appear in iCloud when it is switched back on and connects to wifi or with a different sim.

that is very useful...and fortunately I have a pin lock ...

as soon as you report it to the network they will imei Barr it thus stopping any network connection so your iPhone will always show as offline now.

Good to hear you had a sim lock and hopefully a 4 digit passcode lock to stop the person looking at your info.
