I'm having problems with my Samsung Galaxy s5.

It seems to be running really slowly, at times I'll a activate the screen by pressing the gone button and it will take over a minute to respond.

Also the battery is getting really hot and only seems to last about 6 or 7 hours now on a full charge.

Finally, yesterday the texts I sent took about 9 hours before they were received.

I'm not sure if all these symptoms are linked but would appreciate any advice on how to resolve them.

Hi

Have you carried out any firmware updates recently as it's usually suggested to perform a Hard Reset after which gets rid of old code that can cause issues.

Sometimes turning the phone off and leave it for 5 minutes or so and turn it back in helps with glitches as it kind of refreshes the phone.

Check that you are on the latest firmware.

Also check your masts via https://www.vodafone.co.uk/explore/network/uk-coverage-map/index.htm or any issues that may cause the problem with texts. Use the Zoom out function in the map to check for areas around you.

Of not then a Hard Reset can still help.

Be sure to create a backup as this will delete any data in your phones memory like pictures etc.

Samsung Galaxy S5 hard reset

How to remove forgotten password on your Samsung S5 phone. If you are unable to get access to your Samsung Galaxy S 5 device, you have to perform a factory reset / hard reset using the following procedure.

1. Turn off your Samsung Galaxy S5 Andorid phone and make sure you have charged the battery at least 50%.
2. Press and hold Volume up, Home and Power keys until the Samsung logo appears on the screen.
3. When the Andorid system Recovery menu appears on the screen release all keys.
4. Using the Volume DOWN key highlight the Wipe data/Factory reset option and select it by pressing the Power key.
5. Scroll down again (using Vol down) to Yes -- delete all user data and press Power. All your data will be lost!
6. After all is done select Reboot system now press the power key and the phone will reboots.
7. Setup and customize your phone or power off if you are plannig to sell it.
Another method to reset your Samsung Galaxy S5 phone if you can use the dialer key in the following: *2767*3855# All data will be lost!

or Reset your Samsung S5 from the menu
If your phone is responding to screen input, then open Settings from the Applications menu. Tap Backup & reset > Factory data reset, click Reset phone and then Erase everything to format your phone.

If these don't help then you have a 2 year warranty with Samsung so I would contact their UK support site for assistance.

It's definitely worth trying a factory reset.  Make sure your accounts are all fully sync'd first and back up your content.  If you have an external sd card, remove it as the reset process sometimes formats it.

If it still doesn't work properly, you can go down the repair route, but a reset would be part of that, so you won't have lost anything.
