New build activation issue

My broadband was meant to go live on 27th June. stupidly, I didn’t actually turn the box on, and now internet is just flashing red. Have chatted with customer support but haven’t got anywhere; apparently my problem is being ‘looked into’ but I’m not sure whether anything will come of this. I live in a new build and the Openreach was only installed a couple of weeks ago. Has anyone else had this issue?

I'm assuming this is a Full Fibre installation, so what leds are lit on the ONT?

Power and PON are lit

There should be 3 green LEDs. If the LAN (or port) LED isn't lit, the router is probably not connected to the ONT correctly. What cable did you use and what port on the back of the router is it connected to. (It should be the Ethernet cable and the WAN port)

Sorry if I’m being a massive idiot here - LAN light isn’t on. I haven’t connected with a WAN cable but through a master socket - so there is a red cable running from the internet label to master socket, and then the other cable is plugged into the power socket?

That will be the problem then. Use the LAN cable (I think they colour it blue/yellow) and connect it from the ONT to the blue WAN socket on the router.

Thank you, have done that. The LAN light still isn’t on, so does that mean this would be an Openreach issue?

No, the LAN led means the connection from the router is "live", nothing to do with Openreach.

Have you tried powering the router off/on, now it is cabled correctly.

Thank you for this - LAN light now on! However, internet light on the router still flashing red. Is that to be expected?

Possibly, for awhile, as it means it's trying to authenticate to Vodafone. It's just possible Vodafone have broken it their end, trying to fix the problem. LOL
