Solution

Use existing openreach network rather than new cityfibre network

Hi there,

I'm completing on a property purchase shortly and it currently has an Openreach ONT installed and cable coming down the side of the building.

I've taken out a new FTTP contract and been contacted by CityFibre who have said they cannot touch the Openreach kit, so will have to run another cable down the side of our property and along the front, which isn't ideal as it means more holes being drilled into the property and also more cables run along it.

As Vodafone offer both Openreach and Cityfibre connections, would I be able to be connected up to Openreach, rather than Cityfibre?

Thanks in advance.

Vodafone, it seems, will always choose CityFibre over Openreach if both are available. (I'm assuming it is cheaper for them, but I have no proof of that)

If you wish to stay with Openreach, it may be best to choose another ISP.

Thanks for that.

That's a shame, I'll have to call up and cancel my package in the morning and look elsewhere.

Hey @Ross87 I hope you're doing well. I'm sorry to hear that you are now looking to cancel. The Broadband team would be able to answer any questions you have regarding the installation and your package. I do appreciate how frustrating it would be to have another line run across your property and I will pass this feedback on.

Thanks Effie.

Unfortunately the team couldn't help as they only have a Cityfibre contract in my area. I just didn't fancy having the two cables running down and around the house + two ONT's in the house, so I've had to cancel unfortunately.

I am sorry to hear that @Ross87 but I absolutely appreciate your reasoning. If there is anything at all you need help with, just give us a shout.
