3rd Party Router

I am looking to switch from Sky to vodaphone fibre because Sky is a pita to use 3rd party hardware with. I want to use 3rd party hardware because default routers are usually poo and 3rd party have better security features. I have an ASUS RT-AC85P router. Is the default router that comes with vodaphone able to be used in bridge modem mode with this router (or any other)?

Alternatively, does vodaphone support 3rd party modems? I have an old BT Openreach HG612 VDSL modem (not unlocked) I bought 2nd hand because from various forums it sounds like a cheap alternative to another popular option which is the Daytrek Vigor 130 which is around £90 on Amazon .

Would this set up work okay on vodaphone fibre?  And are there any set up guidelines you could link me to? I'm pretty bad with this stuff. Thanks.

To answer your queries No the Vodafone router doesn't have modem only mode. Yes Vodafone will supply credentials so you can use your own router, but they won't support it.

However I would suggest you look around the forum and see what others think of Vodafone before making your decision, especially the posts on evening slow down.

I swapped from Sky thinking all broadband suppliers were the same. How wrong I was.
