So tomorrow my FTTP broadband is going live, except the one major problem is that vodafone have neglected to send me a router which is frustrating and not the best start. Im transitioning from Sky FTTC and have been using my TP-Link VR2800. I'm not expecting any issues with the speed as the Fibre cabling outside my house is only a couple of months old, and I finally managed to extract the username and password for the router to connect from Vodafone after first being told 'we dont do that'. I need to know please if there are any further config changes needed for IPv6 or is this no longer a thing on FTTP apart from putting it into wireless router mode and connecting it to the the new box openreach install. I also dont have enable 802.1q on the router. I would also like to know please if its possible to turn off the 5GHz wifi on the vodafone router when if and when it arrives.

If you are going on FTTP, there is no need to use the Vodafone router at all. (Although if it is PRO II you will probably want to)
However, if you don't use the Vodafone router you will lose easy access to the phone line.
What service have you taken out? Is it Openreach or CityFibre?

Hey Its OR as City dont cover my area. TBH not too worried about the landline. We dont use it anymore but my VR2800 is capable of voip as its in the settings

As it is Openreach, all you should need is your PPPoE username and password.
Vodafone have a habit of getting them wrong, so if it doesn't work at first, just confirm they are correct first. Live chat is the best way to do that. https://www.vodafone.co.uk/bbservcd/
You shouldn't need the VLAN, but if you do it's 101.

I finally managed to get it from VF and i suspect they got it a bit wrong as they said i dont need it but it i do the end bit is @vodafone.com having checked these forums, i know better now

I'm on FTTC, but mine ends in (at)broadband.vodafone.co.uk. It will be interesting to see what happens tomorrow.
Had to disguise the @ as the forum changed it

Well, I’ve just had a phone call from Vodafone‘a CEO office. Apparently the order failed and none of the cs reps I spoke to at all across the entire week could see this, and so my installation is not happening! I’m now frantically trying to get hold of Sky to ensure my broadband service with them doesn’t terminate! Not impressed is an understatement!

Hopefully your Sky won't have been cancelled, that should only happen when you change FTTC suppliers, not when you go to FTTP.

Contacted Sky, and they hadnt processed any cancelation. After speaking with VF I have had to do a new order for broadband from scratch which the lady from earlier on was monitoring the system for, and she straight away rang me and moved the new install date from 21st of December to the 7th, which means i wont have to pay sky their rip of price of £35.50 for rubbish 61meg fttc. im receiving updates via text, and the order tracker this time is working properly, although im expecting to receive multiple routers after various cs agents kept rushing ones out happy days at last lol I've found that the service with sky at least is much much better. the VF agents who you speak to when you call through dont appear to know what theyre doing and what policies are.
