Hello,
Since 5 pm yesterday, my broadband internet has been randomly disconnecting.
When it goes down, I log into my router, not only is the DSL connection down but it appears that the WAN connection has been temporarily disconnected. I then have to wait a few minutes for it to reconnect. It's almost as if the phone line is temporarily disconnected and reconnected. I have contacted Vodafone and they haven't been able to provide a solution. I've never experienced this problem before despite being with Vodafone for over six years.

That is to be expected, the WAN (Wide Area Network) goes via the DSL.
It sounds like you need Openreach to investigate the line. Get back to Vodafone, and don't let them fob you off. (Assuming you have checked all the connections at your end)
