Solution

Chose the wrong broadband speed and activation happening soon, considering to upgrade

I have chosen the fibre 150 package but i don't think this will be good enough for a household of 6 / 10-12 devices even though we are all low intensity users. Problem is i got it through third party cashback website and it comes with a giftcard vodafone offers i believe, again through a third party. Anyone know how upgrading would work? It says i'd recieve the gift card in 120 days so i'm considering upgrading after that.

And how much will the cost of upgrading be? Will it be the same as currently shown for that package online (for new customers)?

I suggest you wait and see how it is during the first 14 days, if you find it inadequate (I don't think you will), ask to upgrade then, the difference in cost should be no more than had you chosen the higher speed at the start.

I originally changed my package shortly after joining, but the voucher came through fine.

@Jaguare224 I'm running 10 computers on 63Mb FTTC so it depends on what the devices are doing rather than how many you have. You said that they are "low intensity" so I suspect you will be fine on 150Mb.

I've seen spikes of up to around 30 with just streaming youtube (although it was in 4k). I too thought 150 would be fine but i think i'll leave around 20-30 per device next time

I used an offer when I re-joined VF last September. My gift card voucher of £80 (via Giftcloud) also said I should get the voucher within 120 days. After 120 days and no voucher, I started chasing up with Giftcloud and I eventually got my voucher last week. Something like 180 days. Maybe I was unlucky and not the norm.

Not relevant to this thread.

I disagree, the poster talked about waiting 120 days before upgrading. I merely pointed out that the 120 day wait period could be significantly longer which could influence any decision making regarding further upgrades.

Thanks, exactly what i was hoping for!

Your Fibre 150 package came through a third-party cashback site with a Vodafone gift card, likely £35-£90, arriving in 120 days. Upgrading might cancel the gift card, so wait until after it’s delivered. Contact Vodafone to upgrade post-120 days; costs depend on the plan (e.g., Fibre 500 at £34/month for new customers), but as an existing customer, you might pay £5-10 more monthly. For 6 people and 10-12 low-intensity devices, 150Mbps should suffice, but 500Mbps offers more headroom. Call Vodafone after the gift card arrives for exact upgrade pricing.

Sorry if I'm wrong, bit your reply sounds awfully like an AI generated one. Such relies are not allowed on the forum.

Upgrading should be possible, but since you went through a third-party deal, there might be restrictions. If you upgrade too soon, you could lose the gift card, so waiting 120 days is safest. As for pricing, you probably won’t get the new customer rate—best to check with Vodafone to see what they’d offer.
