Leaving here as have lost enough time speaking with VF this week already.
Took over home broadband acc. (acc. was previously set up in my abusive ex's name as his work paid for it). All I I have had is massive issues with VF since doing this -
1. Initially being told best way to take over the account is to speak with my ex even after explaining that he was abusive and that i'd rather not speak with him. Even the police told me that companies should have processes in place for this type of situation, however, I was told multiple times that I needed to get in touch with my ex. In contrast my energy supplier were amazing, they did all the speaking with him (as this was in his name too) & even sent me flowers.
2. After 2 months of taking over the account half way through my work day (i work from home and rely on having an internet connection) my internet gets cut off. It tuns out this is down to 2 months unpaid bills, despite the fact I gave my bank details for a direct debit to be set up on taking over the account. I was send no emails / letters to tell me that the direct debit hadn't been taken, my internet was just cut.
3. On calling VF following my internet being cut, they refuse to talk to me as I don't know the pin. I'm advised I need to take some ID into a store and kept on hold for > 1hr (this is still in the middle of my work day). Turns out the pin can be set online,
4. Following this, a £5 charge is added to my bill for the late payment which was entirely VF fault.
I would not recommend VF at all and as soon as I have moved house (which is happening in the next few months) will be leaving them. They have only caused me stress, disruption and hassle in the 3 months I have been using them.

I think you should definitely raise a complaint. They may be able to provide compensation for the appalling way you have been treated. Complaints Code of Practice | Vodafone UK
