Hi
I’ve had a Deco mesh network from before I moved to Vodafone, and have been using it with Vodafone and their provided router for over a year with no problem (wifi disabled). However I wasn’t happy with the config (double NAT etc) or the fact I couldn’t use many of the Deco features.
So I purchased an X73 DSL, and have managed to replace the Vodafone modem/router. All is good, apart from the fact it’s noticeably slower, to the point it’s now difficult to work. This is the case with all the extra security features disabled (Web Protection, Intrusion Prevention etc).
Is there something wrong with my settings (see attached)? It seems to have set various “auto” settings, but when I change them to what seems to be the correct actual setting, it stops working altogether.
Any suggestions would be appreciated!
Simon

Good find, looks like it is the HomeShield Security, even if it appears to be off. Hope you get a reply to your query there.

That means they would be willing to ran a fibre direct to your premises, but don't bother asking "how much", you wouldn't pay it.

Ahh ok 😬

No point doing that, as they will expect you to have the Vodafone router on, Whilst are happy for you to use your own modem/router, they won't support it.
Your connection figures are not far off the Openreach expectations, so you have quite a long line, It's never going to be particularly fast.
So, just to get this right, with the Vodafone router running the line, there were no problems, other than the fact your mesh was running double Nat?

Yes it was perfectly usable on my work laptop. There were some other issues such as connection to the Deco in my garage, which the X73 seems to have solved. But my work laptop has gone from usable to unusable.

4041kbps max rate on the upload is extremely low, even with a 2dB SNR. The SNR itself says there's a major problem. I suggest plugging straight into the BT socket's test socket without any filters, then a full reset and setup from scratch.
Are you using vodafones modem lead (this has already been proven good)?

Yes I am - same lead and filter that was working before.
So a full factory reset of the main Deco with the filter removed you rekon? Not just a restart?

The SNR on the upload is 6db, the formatting is a bit confusing. The Openreach checker says to expect a speed of 5.8 to 8.2 so yes less than expected, that is why I wondered what the Vodafone router gave.

I’ll get the Vodafone router out once my other half has finished her work.
If the config is correct for Vodafone, then I’m just wondering whether the X73 acting as the modem/gateway has some kind of additional features other than the security ones you can disable. I have seen mentions on this forum of people having problems with Zscaler when using their own modem. However as that’s just an encrypted tunnel my guess would be that should either work or not.

What’s weird is that some web sites seem fine, others (especially those that need SSO or sign in) are either very slow or don’t work at all. Dashlane doesn’t load at all, and I don’t think it’s a particularly heave front page. I’m stumped.
