Ethernet keeps disconnecting for PC

Since switching to Vodafone my PC which has wired ethernet keeps disconnecting randomly. It reconnects without any intervention, sometimes the drop is for a few seconds, other times its minutes. This is the only device which has the issue and has only started since switching to Vodafone (previously we had EE for 2 years and I never had this issue) . I have reset my PCs network settings and reinstalled drivers and swapped ports on the router but the issue still occurs.

Any advise on further troubleshooting would be appreciated.

Hi @alistairc9, if all other devices are connecting to your service without any issues, it sounds like the issue could be connected to your PC. Are you able to try connecting via another Ethernet cable? This would allow us to rule the cable you're currently using out as an issue. Have you tried connecting it via WiFi? If so, does the issue still persist?

I have tried other cables and had the same issue, I have also connected my laptop instead of my PC and had the same issue occur, connecting through WIFI I get no drops.

I have also checked and neither my PC or laptop have power saving enabled, again this issue has only started occurring on both devices since changing provider which makes me think its more the router issue than it is my devices.

@alistairc9

Assuming that your PC is running Windows, can you check that the ethernet card is not set to go into power saving mode.

It's "control panel" -> "device manager" -> "network adapters" -> "[some brand name] family controller" , then right-click for properties and select the "power management" tab.

@alistairc9Thanks for looking at the settings. I don't suppose that there is anything in the router logs showing errors or disconnects?
