Exit contract because broadband broken for 30+ days

Am I correct to think that if the broadband/phoneline is completely broken for over 30 days then I am able to leave the contract? Would I still be able to get the £8 per day compensation if I left?

The situation is that Storm Eunice destroyed the phoneslines here, more than 10 houses are affected. Openreach have visited a few times, but they say a new pole needs to be put in as the old one was damaged by a fallen tree. The engineer arrived a week after the storm and said it would be at least two weeks until they would consider doing anything as they were very busy.

I'm now using 4G and the speed is not too bad. It would be useful to get out of the 24 month contract early; although maybe I should stay for the £8 per day.

How long does Vodafone pay this £8 per day for? So far I must be owed £100+!

They say "We’ll pay compensation for up to 60 days and give you the right to leave with no early termination fee (ETF) at 30 days. If you leave and you’re due compensation, we’ll automatically credit your final bill."

See here:

Automatic compensation for Home Broadband | Vodafone

So if the compensation amounts to more than my bill (which it already does) then I will not get any more than that? Could be worse I guess. If it's still not fixed after 60 days then I will follow that page to terminate the contract.

I would read it that if your final bill is negative, i.e. they owe you money, you should get it. But I imagine they may not agree.

Sorry for delay replying. Vodafone ended up crediting me the compensation after I made formal complaint.

I got a bill credit of around £300. So my bill was negative for a while and no money taken from direct debit.
