Fibre will go to wrong pole

Hi, all.

We are currently with TalkTalk but want to switch to Vodafone. (Bear with me as this is going to take some explaining...).

Talktalk tried to upgrade us to full fibre several months ago. When the Openreach guy came to do this he said that - for unknown reasons - our fibre connection was to a different pole to our copper line. If the new pole was used then the line would cut directly across our neighbour's bedroom window (and they'd have to put an ugly connector straight into our fascia panels as well). He advised that the better option was to get the fibre connection 'sent back' (don't know the tech term) to the original pole and run the line in from there. (This would be perfect; it's a shorter run, the connection could go straight through the brickwork on that side of the house, into the empty loft, and straight down into the right room).

Anyhow (no surprises here) this 're-route' never happened; TalkTalk and Openreach just went cold on us after a month or so.

When signing up for Vodafone now, we are only offered full fibre and a date for them to come and connect us.

I can just see that we are going to end up with the same sh*tshow: the the guy rocking up and telling us that it's the wrong pole, delays, nobody happy, the full banana boat.

How can we be get ahead of the game here and ensure that the right pole is used? There's a 'Comments for Openreach' line on the Vodafone sign-up form but you only get about 20 characters to play with which is clearly no use, since the re-route has to happen *before* the guy trundles up to do the connecting.

Alternatively, how do we sign up with Vodafone for copper-to-the-house? We're ok with the 35mbs we currently have, but the sign-up is driven by postcode which only gives you full fibre options.

Hope this makes sense... Help!

Cheers,

Pete
