2 weeks into full fibre 150 contract and speed is 140 at router but only 40 at laptop by WiFi and is worse than i was getting from "fibre to the pole". Was told all is working on instalation and promotion does not mention this problem can occur. Am told the only reolution is to upgrade to PRO II, which seems to have similar problems on here. Why should i pay for that? Does anyone have any advice as I feel I have been scammed frankly and want to cancel.

Wifi is inherently the slowest connection to the router, so it's not valid to test broadband speed over it. Over a cable you'll see your true speed.
40Mb sounds like you're connected to the 2.4GHz band. 5GHz will saturate your broadband connection.

If it's going below the guaranteed speed then you're within your right to escalate this to their complaints department and then the ombudsman if necessary.
Big ISP's especially tend to act very differently once you escalate it to an official complaint as opposed to just complaining to them.
It's been a long time since I've seen speed drops due to congestion so it's a little strange, usually its packet loss.

Yes, but my point is they don't tell you that in promotions or when you take up a contract, or at installation. What is the point of only guaranteeing speed at the router when what matters is the speed on your device. Then the only option is to upgrade at some cost to PRO II, which may have the same problem. even if that works, I don't need that speed. I just want to get the minimum guaranteed speed on my laptop, and they have no answer to that. It seems all they want to do is get you to sign up for a particular speed and then upgrade when it doesn't work. The whole way of doing business seems to be designed to achieve that. If I purchase a good quality extender will that increase my speed?

@davidsim They do tell you, it's in the small print. Granted it's usually in a folded portion at the foot of the webpage.
Update: I just tried looking at the broadband sales and the minimum speed is now in normal size print when you click on "see plan details" link. So it's there and it's the customer's responsibility to read the terms before purchasing.
