No problem, that's normal.

Refer back to my reply on your previous post Re: High CRC errors help - Community home (vodafone.co.uk), mine is exactly the same.

There really is no problem with your connection, you are not going to get any answers to your gaming problems on here, unless you can give us some concrete proof of just what is causing them.

i cant provide concrete proof but it makes me think that maybe my line is actually fine but the settings on my line need to be tweaked as in the past when engineers have messed around with the SNR and interleave through trial and error i have found that the line can be great but its only after these tweaks . But they dont last long because the DLM kicks in after 24 hour to 10 days and changes everything . Its weird though because i had that 8 - 9 month period where my connection was perfect and the DLM didnt affect the line or change anything which that makes me also think could something be interfering with my line like noise somewhere down on the line or something thats trigger the DLM to kick i n and re tweak the line ?

Obviously I don't exactly know exactly what those "tweaks" were, but there really is not much that can be done to make a basic copper connection perform better.

The problems you describe on your other threads sound more like latency issues, and yes. Vodafone have suffered those in the past.

But, at the moment, I don't think there is any real advice we can give you.

It sounds (from you previous posts) that you have had these problems with multiple ISP's, so just how many have you tried?

those tweaks were trial and error with interleaving with it been on and off and also dropping the line speeds by changing the SNR to 6 for down and 6 for up gives more stability which doing that makes it better on my end for gaming [ from experiance ] but again though the DLM kicks in and raises the speeds back up .

Ive been with BT , SKY and now Vodaphone . All the same problems on each provider .

ISP's claim they can tweak the line on there end and only open reach can so you ask for an engineer and they cant send one out because there is no problem on the line physically . But many times in the past openreach engineers have confirmed to me ISP'S can tweak the line [ turn on and off interleave and set SNR level ] on their end

The only change to DLM an engineer can make is a reset. That's what your engineer did. However, after a reset the DSLAM is back in control and will change DLM to suit your line. There's nothing they can do to change that.

Each ISP has a choice between two or three profiles controlled by DLM.

1. Speed. Delivers the highest speed possible. The thing with this is if there's errors the speed won't be reduced so much but the connection will suffer from mega retransmits to mitigate the errors.

2. Reliability. Speed gets reduced and greater use of interleaving to mitigate errors.

3. Blend. Mixed use of both of the above to balance performance and reliability.

I'm a mile from the CABINET that served me. When I was on TalkTalk I had the speed profile. 75/20Mbits but seemed really slow - because of all the errors - retransmit taking a lot of that bandwidth. Then I moved to Vodafone with their reliability policy. 65/18 Mbits but it felt a whole lot nippier.

The bit rate does not dictate the actual experience of the end user. Vodafone won't change their policy for just one or one thousand customers because it's contractual with openreach - one or the other, no changes.

To be honest the overall performance of the 3 policies are very similar but is gained by different methods. However, with it's mega retransmit the Speed profile can actually feel laggy - which it is. Most end users are impressed by headline speeds without knowing what is involved in delivering that speed number. It's just a number that has nothing to do with the actual experience.

The laggy feel of your connection is not down to DLM. Look elsewhere.

As an aside my speedtests to the Bracknell servers are painfully slow. Perhaps your gateway is having problems(?).

is it possible for vodaphone / isps to get the gateway changed ?
