I used to get 5ms ping to London (from Coventry), now I am being auto connected to Edinburugh and I get 15 ping to there, when I try to speedtest to London or even right next to me in Leicester I am getting pings above 22...I called in and they just said "they added new servers and there's nothing much we can do"...
any help?

Maybe it's why our routing is bad...because we're being assigned IP's that aren't meant to be of our actual locations? Hence why some people who managed to get a static ip had their issues resolved? Could it be that simple?

That is very strange, as your IP address is not what Google's location services mainly use to geolocate you.

Even https://dnschecker.org/ip-location.php is giving me a completely wrong location

It will, as will all the IP based databases, Vodafone's dynamic IP addresses are not correct on any of the databases.
Not sure about the static addresses, but I doubt they are either.

My go to site for IP location is https://infosniper.net/index.php.. Looking at it I've just realised my IP has changed.
The THG3000 has been up for 22 days and has had 2 cuts in that time, last one 2 days ago.
I've just re-contracted for 2 years, don't say it's all going to start going wrong.

I have the router here set to deliberately reboot every night at 4AM, shortly followed by automated speedtests every 12 minutes in order to calibrate the (cake) QOS.
For the record, some of the IP location databases currently place me in Jaipur, though most say Sheffield - both of which are wrong!
When it comes to lag, the whole internet has been suffering a bit for the last few days thanks to Cloudflare dropping the ball, and some major Cyber Attacks in the UK. Add to that Vodafone do appear to be carrying out some nighttime maintenance.
*Currently unable to use the Thinkbroadband BQM as my firewall appears to be blocking it even when respond to pings is turned on (Hurricane Electric IPv6 which requires the router to be pingable works fine).

Night-time maintenance? So chances are this issue will get resolved one of these days overnight

Jaipur, Sheffield. I can understand the confusion. 🤣 Vodafone did bring lots of IP4 addresses over from it's Indian subsidiary.
Hopefully the night time maintenance is the cause of my unexpected reconnects.

I find this very weird that VF doesnt have an accurate geolocation after allowing the websites to know my location but also using my ip address and doing an ip lookup. I go to any website including Google maps and Google earth and try to locate my self on those websites they get a completely wrong location. It's very weird as I recently went to Romania on holiday and was curious if that was the same. I did the exact thing on my home network as well as a friend's living on the opposite side on the town. Both networks were able to locate exactly where we were using all the same websites including Google maps and Google earth. I tested there to see if there are any problems with the routing but network is setup using the best and closest servers as optimally as I could see it. So I'm starting to think that may be the issues, the router not knowing where its actually located which could lead to being connected to the wrong servers. I live closer to London than Manchester but keep getting connected there. Power cycled the router over 30 times so that the IP changed every time but still keep getting connected to Manchester. Every time a new ip address is being assigned to the router it tends to be around Birmingham or around Manchester which is not where I live. They really need to do something about this routing as its very annoying getting higher ping with full fiber to the house than I was getting with Virgin media with coaxial.

Because it's not Vodafone that provides the geolocation, it's third-party vendors that charge sites who want that info for access to it. As the number of IPv4 addresses has diminished they're being "traded" more often and the geo-database providers either don't or can't be bothered to update their databases.
Roll on IPv6 when it'll all go to hell in a handcart!
